The screen has a backlight for operation in the dark. In “Auto” mode the device assesses the ambient light itself: the backlight turns on only when a button is pressed and does not turn on in bright light (for example, in the sun). The backlight brightness has ten levels. The screen image orientation can be set for left- or right-handed operation, or automatic rotation can be selected. The turn-on conditions, backlight duration, backlight brightness and image orientation are set via the menu, section “Settings”.

The display is used to show: the device status, the graphical dose rate level, the control menu, the settings menu, Spectrum mode (estimation of absorbed radiation energies), Monitor mode (dose rate estimation), Dose mode (accumulated dose estimation), and Search mode (visual estimation of count rate). The status bar is located at the top of the display; its content depends on the selected display mode. The icons used are described in more detail in the section “Icons and symbols”.
